How to Relieve IBS Symptoms

IBS Diet

One of the best ways to relieve IBS symptoms is by dietary change and avoiding those foods that seem to cause them.

Intolerance to certain foods can produce IBS symptoms. Therefore, identifying and reducing your intake of these foods could help to relieve your IBS symptoms.

Increasing fibre in the diet can help some IBS sufferers. However, in some cases increasing fibre can actually worsen symptoms.

Stress Relief

Stress can play a role in producing IBS symptoms by leading to over activity of the nerves and/or gut. Around 50% of IBS sufferers link stress with the onset of symptoms and their worsening during periods of anxiety.

Therefore, you may find that simple relaxation exercises help relieve your IBS symptoms. In the long term reducing the amount of stress in your life could prove to be an effective IBS treatment.

Practicing stress management techniques, especially with a qualified therapist, may be of value.
