| Referred to me by her Osteopath, Susan had been suffering
bouts of severe diarrhoea, ever since a foreign holiday over
5 years earlier! When she contacted me, she was, in her own
words, 'desperate'. Susan was unable to digest any food early
in the morning and breakfast would result in a series of attacks
of diarrhoea. Her doctor suspected irritable bowel syndrome. |
|
| The priority was to reduce the inflammation in the colon by
careful attention to diet and by introducing appropriate supplements.
Within two days the diarrhoea had subsided and she was able
to eat a light breakfast without any unpleasant reactions. After
one month, Susan said "I feel fabulous" and "I
can't believe it after suffering for so long". |
|
| Whilst still keeping to the original prescription, I added
Marine Lipid capsules for Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids, and
Lecithin granules to help break down damaged fats around the
cells. I also recommended taking Aloe Vera juice, famous for
its anti-inflammatory properties, in a little water each day.
We continued to stay in touch and 6 months from our first appointment
Susan was still progressing well. |

| Peter was experiencing joint pains and dramatic fluctuations
in his energy levels before he was referred to me. Abdominal
cramps and diarrhoea - common symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome
- were giving him a lot of problems, and had done since the
age of 32. Despite trying lots of different diets and going
to the gym 3-4 times a week, he had also gained 2 stones in
weight in the space of a year. Peter was experiencing a great
deal of anxiety as a result and was concerned to achieve a sense
of balance and harmony in his life. |
|
| It was important that Peter's diet was as unstressful as possible.
Along with appropriate dietary advice, he was also advised to
avoid such things as alcohol and unhelpful snacks such as sweet
biscuits. |
|
| A month after our first appointment, there were significant
improvements. Peter's energy levels were more consistent and
he had also lost 6lbs! The diarrhoea had stopped and the abdominal
cramps were greatly reduced. During conversations 4 months and
7 months later, Peter was still progressing well and enjoying
much better health. |

| Caroline wanted to be treated by a British Association of
Nutritional Therapists (BANT) registered practitioner. She was
experiencing a range of symptoms, including severe constipation
and distressing skin problems. She wanted to 'feel healthier'
and was looking for some guidance on how to improve her diet
beneficially. Caroline had been treating her constipation with
regular doses of laxatives, and the first thing we did was look
for ways of restoring colon function without having to resort
to laxatives. |
|
| Within days of her first appointment, colon function had greatly
improved. After one month, Caroline announced that the treatment
had achieved what she wanted. Caroline's mother was so impressed
by her daughter's obviously improved health that she too decided
to become a client. |

| Carmen contacted me after obtaining my details from a Manchester
complementary clinic. She was experiencing problems with regulating
her blood sugar levels. As an amateur runner with a naturally
high metabolism, her energy requirements were greater than normal.
In an attempt to regulate her blood sugar levels Carmen was
eating highly refined foods at regular intervals and even whilst
running! Lower than normal blood sugar levels would frequently
result in slurred speech, double vision and stomach cramps,
and her doctor had no solutions. |
|
| A combination of a less refined diet together with selected
supplements resulted in Carmen feeling much better within 5
weeks. Her unpleasant symptoms had greatly diminished and a
sense of wellbeing had returned. At our follow-up appointment
we kept to the first dietary prescription but added a few more
vitamins and minerals, which I considered would further Carmen's
progress towards improved health. Two months later she wrote
to say 'I can't thank you enough for sorting me out'. She felt
that, at long last, she was able to balance her food intake
and blood sugar levels with the demands of competitive running. |
| |
| Interestingly, Carmen and I were
given the opportunity to share the positive experience of our
work together when Granada Television conducted a series of
programmes on complementary therapies. |
